Frequently Asked Questions
What's the first session like?
In your initial session, we'll review your intake paperwork and address any questions you may have. Together, we'll work to thoroughly understand your needs and determine how I can best assist you. Sessions are 50 minutes.
How often will I need to come to therapy?
In the beginning, meeting weekly is best to maintain momentum, reinforce positive changes and behavior, or work through a crisis. I will frequently check-in with you to see if more frequent or fewer sessions are best for your situation.
How long will I need therapy?
My goal is to help you feel better as soon as possible. In the early stages of therapy, we will collaboratively develop a treatment plan that is personalized for your specific needs. However, therapy takes time and is not a “quick fix.” We are partners in the process and will work together to develop a timeline that works best for you and your goals.

Online Therapy
What is online therapy?
Online therapy consists of face-to-face, real-time video conferencing. Please be sure you have camera capability on your device. We do not offer text therapy. However, telephone therapy is available as needed for existing clients.
Can I do both online and In-Person counseling?
Absolutely. Many clients appreciate the flexibility of online therapy when they are traveling, have a tight schedule, their partner is in a different location, or during inclement weather.
Is online therapy confidential?
Yes. We use a HIPPA-compliant platform within the patient portal. However, please be aware of your surroundings during online sessions and avoid conducting your sessions in public areas or on unsecured wifi. Consider using headphones or earbuds. We discourage engaging in online therapy with non-clients in the room.
Is it possible to feel “connected” in online therapy?
Online therapy can foster a sense of connection by creating a comfortable and familiar environment for clients, as they participate in sessions from their own homes. This setting can make individuals feel more at ease, allowing for open and honest communication. Moreover, online therapy offers great flexibility, enabling couples or family members to join sessions simultaneously from different locations, which can enhance the therapeutic experience and ensure everyone’s involvement. The focus on the client's personal environment can also deepen the therapeutic relationship, as therapists gain insights into their clients' lives, leading to a more personalized and empathetic approach. Furthermore, the convenience of not commuting to and from sessions means less stress and more focus on personal growth and healing. As a result, these factors collectively help to build a strong sense of connection and engagement in the therapeutic process.
